As an Outdoor Education Teacher my goal is to promote outdoor learning experiences.
This week year 4 students geography lesson was conducted outdoors. We started by learning about the geography of the Malvern Hills, it’s location, formation, significance and its uniqueness within the counties of Malvern, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.
Rock Types – The lesson then investigated different rock types which could be found in the Malvern Hills, such as igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks and discussed how these could be formed.
Field Trip Activities – Observation of different rocks, identifying different characteristics such as colour, texture and composition then sketching the rocks and making notes.
Students enjoyed this hands-on interactive geography lesson, were keen being outdoors as well as walking on the hills!
